Caracas, February 08th 2010.- Venezuela's Energy Ministry will invest over $ 4 million, announced yesterday Minister Alí Rodríguez Araque and said that the investment will be aimed at the generation, transmission, distribution and commercialization of the electrical energy.
“$ 1 billion will be invested to increase the generation of 4,000 megawatts this year and 14,000 in 2014,” he added in an interview broadcasted by Venezolana de Television (VTV).
Minister Rodríguez said that the government wants to increase the capacity to generate electricity by 50% with thermoelectrical plants. This proportion helps with hydro-electrical generation of about 70%.
He criticized the statements about the arrival of a Cuban delegation, headed by the Science Minister Ramiro Valdés.
“They have a great experience on energy saving and energy efficiency and have performed a great work with the replacement of a big number of inefficient equipments. They also developed an energy revolution plan consisting of replacing all incandescent bulbs for saving bulbs in Cuba and have implemented a sort of generation system that have divided the country into a sort of rings which avoids that the spread of an electrical problem towards other places,” he explained.
He ratified that that the solidarity with Venezuela is not only from Cuba, but also from Brazil , Argentina, Russia and China. “We have been working with Brazil to fix the turbine in Guri,” he added.
He explained that two of the thermoelectrical plants to be installed in the iron and steel Orinoco company will come from Russia and announced that an Argentinean delegation will arrive on Saturday in order to help in this area.
Finally, he pointed out that he met with representatives of the manufacturer of the ship over which the thermoelectrical generator plants will be set.
